Celebrate Christmas at Torre Abbey this year
Torre Abbey presents an array of captivating Christmas events designed to bring joy and magic to all who attend.
Starting from 25 November, Torre Abbey will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with a host of exciting seasonal activities and events lined up.
Winter Fest, Torre Abbey’s popular Christmas gift and craft fair is returning for two weekends this year, set in the stunning Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November and again on Saturday 2 December and Sunday 3 December.
Stalls will be selling a unique array of handmade local items that you won’t find on the high street, from the finest locally sourced produce to captivating crafts and unique gifts, the market promises the perfect opportunity to find that special present for your loved ones. Items on sale include Christmas decorations, toys, jewellery, knitted and crochet gifts, craft kits and a range of wooden objects made by a local wood turner. During the weekend of 25-26 November you will also be able to meet alpacas from a local farm and buy related products. Expect Christmas tunes, festive decorations, and mulled wine on sale.
Entry to Winter Fest also includes free entry to the main house, where visitors can enjoy our special Christmas advent exhibition and a host of children's themed activities and crafts. Can you find the sugar plum fairy? Children can also create a nutcracker puppet and play in our puppet theatre area.
During the Winter Fest weekends Father and Mother Christmas will also be at Torre Abbey located in our winter wonderland under crofts. Families can now book for an exclusive ‘meet and greet.’ Each family will have exclusive time with Father and Mother Christmas and children will receive a special Christmas gift.
A whole host of other events are taking place at Torre Abbey in the lead up to Christmas, including Wreath Making Workshops on 19 and 21 December using greenery sustainably sourced from the Torre Abbey gardens. There is also a Christmas Willow Star making course running on the 12 December where you can learn how to make a beautiful hanging decoration – perfect for providing festive homemade charm in your house or as a gift.
On 14 December Boo to a Goose theatre will be visiting to present Once Upon a Christmas, an interactive and multi-sensory performance for children aged 2-8 years and their families. Sat by the festive fireside, a merry elderly couple, with help from some cheeky elves and The Gingerbread Man, share their memories and stories and, with scents of Christmas spices triggering the senses. They invite the audience to help make paper chain decorations whilst singing along to familiar old songs, but how do this jolly old couple know so much about the most wonderful time of the year?
And finally, to thank all of our wonderful visitors throughout the year we will be running a free community Christmas Carol concert at Torre Abbey. Join us on the 16 December (6:00 – 7:30pm) for a festive celebration of seasonal spirit as the 'Torre Abbey Singers' bring you a delightful evening of Christmas carols, festive songs and readings. The Spanish Barn will be dressed for Christmas as we invite everyone to join us and celebrate the most magical time of the year with hot drinks and festive treats on offer.
So, immerse yourself in the joys of the holiday season and make sure Torre Abbey is on your festive itinerary.
